Want to work for Willie Nelson’s weed business? Here’s your chance
Posted on June 23 2016
Willie Nelson, the long lived and long loved country musician has always had two major passions in his life. The first being country music, the second, you might well know, is a love of all things to do with marijuana. His song with Merle Haggard ‘It’s all going to pot’ showed just how much it’s meant to him over the years. There are even stories of him smoking a joint on the white house roof while visiting the President.
Now you can have the chance to work for Willie’s weed business in the states. His marijuana company ‘Willie’s Reserve’ is now hiring for five positions. The catch is, you have to live in Colorado. (Or you could move to Colorado, that sounds like a good idea too!) Willie has described his new stores as ‘The anti-walmart’.
The new positions that you can apply for cover production manager, extractor, compliance officer, bookkeeper and sales director. So, if you have experience with any of those, it might well be worth applying for one of the jobs.
Nelson and his colleagues first talked publicly about getting into the cannabis business at the 2015 South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. “(Nelson) wants it to be something that’s reflective of his passion,” Willie’s Reserve’s Michael Bowman told The Daily Beast last year.
“Ultimately, it’s his. But it was developed by his family, and their focus on environmental and social issues, and in particular this crazy war on drugs, and trying to be a bright light amongst this trail as we’re trying to extract ourselves from the goo of prohibition.
“It’s going to be very reflective of Willie’s life.”
Some of the earlier employees for Willie’s Reserve have been spoken about by Willie in the past
“There’s a bunch of gals up in Colorado … that are running Willie’s Reserve — we call them the high women,” Nelson said with a laugh. “But it’s like Women’s Growers, I think, is their legal name. But they’re doing great work.”
