Is Marijuana A Creative Stimulant?
Posted on August 30 2016
I’m not about to make the claim that cannabis suddenly turns you into a creative mastermind able to paint like Basquiat or write poetry like Rembrandt, however, I do believe that marijuana may significantly stimulate an already creative mind. I base this, generally, upon no real basis other than my own experience. As a writer I often find myself prone to sitting and staring at either a piece of paper or laptop screen blankly, being unable to come up with ideas for at least ten minutes, perhaps that’s what I’m doing now, and I can’t help but imagine I am not the only one who falls prey to this feeling.
I find that when I smoke marijuana, even in small amounts, my head begins to fill with numerous ideas as my thoughts connect and race from one to another. Now I’m not saying this necessarily helps me with the task of writing for this blog, as generally most of these thoughts are a little too ‘out-there’ or silly for a blog based around weed, however, they do help for other things and some ideas trickle into these blog posts through humor.
After all, Steve Jobs was quoted as saying, “The best way I would describe the effect of the marijuana and the hashish is that it would make me relaxed and creative,” which is pretty substantial considering Jobs influence on contemporary society to this day despite his death. Bear in mind that Jobs was already a creative man and that he likely meant that it only boosted what was already there.
